Kottke Cattle is double-barreled. We deploy capital to both beef and row crop production. Several lifetimes spent in both of these essential sectors of the agricultural economy have qualified us to play this challenging role successfully- from bunkhouse to boardroom.

Being active in all sectors of beef and crop production that present achievable profit margins includes cow-calf operations, yearlings or stockers on grass, fed cattle out at the yard, beef and dairy crossbred cattle, and specialty breed and treatment-based cattle production programs.

Cedar Creek Ranch

Our ranch in northeast Oklahoma spans 4,400 acres of limestone prairie along Cedar Creek. It's a traditional 2,000-head stocker operation. Home sweet home in big bluestem country since1990.

  • Kottke Cattle owns and manages both commercial and specialty breed cow and calf operations. In addition to our own stock, we travel the country establishing and maintaining relationships with calf producers to source calves for our various different production programs.

  • Grass based gains are still nature's oldest and most ecologically balanced way of adding protein and value to your livestock. Effective land management adds pounds to your herd while preserving and improving your land for future generations. Kottke has been managing basic stocker type programs since the 1980's.

  • Being involved with cattle on feed all across the West, Kottke is current with trends in the cattle inventory cycle, pasture conditions, corn futures, spreads between feeder cattle and live cattle futures and a multitude of macro economic conditions that affect your profits while finishing cattle at the yard. Our depth of ownership at the yard reflects these inputs.

  • Proper genetics, feed, handling and veterinary protocols determine the quality of the beef you raise. Relationships with processors and knowledge of grid dynamics allow Kottke to apportion capital towards various different specialty programs of beef production. We have experience with all natural cattle, NHTC’s, GAP 1’s, and breed specific premiums.

  • We are partners in Nature's protein creation. As such we stay true to tradition but we also are always open to changing times and the opportunities that may present. Consumer carbon consciousness might be one example. Multi-use options in land management and conservation, another. Refinements in genetics, feed and veterinary protocols are also constantly updating.
